SOCIAL CONCERNS and EVANGELISM COMMITTEES
The Social Concerns/Evangelism Committees exist to provide opportunities for our congregation to support both our members and those outside our walls.
Below is a recap of the activities for the 2019 year:
- ● We continued with our noisy offerings (started in 2013), providing support for the following organizations: Light House Sober Living for Women, Lutheran Social Services of NW Ohio, Genacross, and Lutheran World Relief (shipping of quilts.)
- ● Heartbeat of Ottawa County was supported by our Baby Bottle Campaign.
- ● Soup and Salad Lenten Meals provided support to the BCS Food Pantry for our neighbors nearby, and to ELCA World Hunger for our neighbors across the world.
- ● Our Cabbage Roll Dinner proceeds went to Solomon Lutheran School and the Deaf Ministry of NW Ohio.
- ● Swiss Steak Dinner proceeds went to LOMO (camp ministry) and St. John at the Bay.
- ● Donations were made to NW Ohio Synod Celina Tornado Relief.
- ● St. Peter Blackberry Initiative (clothing items for local migrants) was supported.
- ● Holiday Bureau - Giving Sundays collected items such as toothpaste, shampoo, soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. Also, the Sock Tree with socks, mittens and hats either handcrafted or purchased. Cash donations were also collected and remitted.
- ● Luther Home of Mercy - supplies to be used by residents at its main campus in Williston or clients in community locations were donated, including games, puzzles, umbrellas, electric shavers, arts and crafts supplies, hats, gloves, socks, scarves and personal hygiene products.
- ● God's Work Our Hands - washed 3 transportation vans at the Luther Home of Mercy.
